Alfa Aesar is pleased to offer here our line of pure metal and alloy gauzes for your catalysis needs. The optimal performance of the catalyst alloy and pure metal wire is obtained when the metal wires are woven, or knitted, in the form of a gauze. Precious metal gauzes are often used for the catalytic combustion of ammonia or are employed for the production of cyanic acid (HCN) which is used as the raw material in the manufacture of sodium cyanide (NaCN), potassium cyanide (KCN) and methacryclic acid ester. Platinum Rhodium alloy gauzes have been used since 1909 in the commercial production of nitric acid.
