Proteomics
Proteomics
Proteomics is a large scale comprehensive study of structures and functions of proteins in a biological system. The proteomics research includes the analysis of variation in protein abundances, post-translational modifications, changes in protein interaction networks with other biomolecules and changes in protein functions, and the role of these variations/changes in cellular/disease processes. As proteomics give much better understanding of the living systems than genomics, there is growing interest in proteomics research field. Proteomics have wide applications in biological sciences, drug discovery and molecular medicine. Mass spectrometry has been evolved as an indispensable tool in proteomics research. There is high demand for quality chemical reagents in proteomics research due to the complexity and interdisciplinary nature of the research. Any givien project may involve scientists in the fields of chemistry and biology, medicine, engineering, physics, and informatics.
